Akira Nakamura graduated from Keio University, Yokohama, Japan, in 1986.

He received the MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Keio University, in 1988 and 1991, respectively.


He jointed Electrotechnical Laboratory (ETL) under Agency of Industrial Science and Technology (the former AIST) in the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) in 1991.

The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (the new AIST) was established on April 1, 2001, through the merger of the 15 Laboratories containing ETL under the former AIST.

From April 2021, he has been working as a Professor at Faculty of Engineering of Saitama Institute of Technology.
